Letter to A.B. Crandell, 1876 October 9.

Mentions how busy he is. Lists a number of reading suggestions of a theological nature including The Royal Preacher, "Credo" (by John Foster) "The Greyson Letters," "The Land and the Book," as well as the writers Robertson, Bushnell and Dr. G.W. Clark. Bemoans the dearth of available Biblical commentary for the layman. Hopes for his improved health.
